This is the story of two Brave Hearts: Nitesh & Dimple. It is an Ode to their struggles against Cancer and an immortalization of the lessons learned from the experience.
Nestled in the lap of seven lakes sits the campus of IIM Calcutta. Affectionately known as IIM Joka, it is home to many budding Entrepreneurs and future Corporate Honchos. It was here that fate brought together Dimple Parmar and Nitesh Prajapat and thus began a journey that proved to be larger than life.
Entrepreneurs with the vision to make a mark in their respective fields, Dimple and Nitesh shared the desire to see their ideas take shape and come to fruition. Young and Passionate, their love for the world of business brought them together. As they grew closer, they cherished their similarities and complemented each other's differences. With the warmth of the other's presence, they were nothing short of a power couple. They enjoyed a fast-paced student life with short deadlines and intimidating goals. But a turn of fate brought it all to a halt.
After a bout of ill health, a routine check-up revealed that Nitesh was suffering from Stage 3 Colorectal Cancer. At the age of 25, with the entire life to look forward to, a news of this nature felt unreal and impossible. There was nothing that could be assured to Nitesh, except for one thing, the unfaltering support of Dimple. Lost, Worried, Confused, Scared and Angry, these were recurrent emotions that washed over them. There was a dark storm ahead, staring at them. Somewhere in the midst of the shock, Dimple held Nitesh's hand and swore never to let go. They boldly walked towards the storm, ready to face whatever is thrown at them. Ready to Fight.
After a year-long struggle filled with interventions including Surgery, Radiation, and Chemotherapy, the couple thought the nightmare would near its end. But things got worse.
Nitesh was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastasized Colorectal. This time the disease had spread throughout the body, to his lungs, abdomen and pelvic region.
This time around, the couple had learned from the mistakes and with a lot of courage and persistence, decided to continue their fight. They altered their approach and got going. They never pitied themselves and always made sure that any hurdle on the road was just a stepping stone to move forward.
After a struggle of around ten months, God called Nitesh back home. With a painful hollow in her heart, Dimple found it difficult to move forward. Nitesh's dreams were what kept her afloat and stopped her from sinking in her own tears.
Having received Financial & Logistics support and immense amount of Love and Wishes from complete strangers, Nitesh always wanted to give back to the society that unconditionally helped him. He confided in Dimple his desire to dedicate his life towards helping humanity fight cancer. The couple promised to help others fight the disease as soon as they were back on their own feet. But it was fated that Dimple would walk this path alone, albeit with Nitesh in her heart.
Today, the couple has been of help to thousands across the globe. Dimple no longer walks alone as there are many other warriors, standing shoulder to shoulder, willing to dedicate their lives to fighting this disease.
This Initiative was brought into existence To Help those in need. With the mental strength bestowed on her, Dimple has initiated a revolution against Cancer.
